Shortly after demolition of Oxford House, came an opportunity for the rare shot of the Jubilee hall and rear of the Congregational Chapel (below right).

Oxford House
Situated on the corner of Burnmill Road and Bowden Lane, Oxford House was once a pleasant building used as sheltered accommodation for the elderly. Towards the end of the twentieth Century, this changed to house young persons, and was the subject of rapid decline. After much speculation and drugs misuse reports in the press, it was eventually vacated and boarded up (above left).
In April 2003, it was eventually demolished (below), and by 2005 new apartments for young people with special needs had been built (above right). But did we have to lose the two lovely trees in the foreground?
