Martin Johnson, born in 1970 and raised in Market Harborough, was educated at both Welland Park High School and Robert Smyth Grammar School. He played rugby for Wigston College before joining Leicester Tigers in 1987. In 1997 he became captain for the Tigers, then going on to captain England in 1998 after Lawrence Dallaglio.

More recently, he led England to victory against Australia in the final of the World Cup in 2003.

Johnson is currently Team Manager for England (2009).
